Model Spotlight: TAC Brawler

TAC BRAWLER simulates air-to-air combat between multiple flights of aircraft in both visual and beyond-visual range (BVR) arenas. Special emphasis has been placed on simulating cooperative tactics and on capturing the importance of situation awareness in this environment. You decide the pilot's mission and tactical doctrines as well as pilot aggressiveness, enemy perception, reaction times, and decision-making skills. TAC BRAWLER currently models the aircraft's aerodynamics, missiles, radars, communications, IRST, IFF, NCID, RWR and missile launch warning devices. The program is structured as an event-store simulation with most real-world stochastic features operating on Monte Carlo principles.

Input: TAC BRAWLER accepts the initial scenario information, the number of aircraft, GCI's, SAMS, SSM and stand-off jammers. You also need to provide the aircraft's initial formation and headings as well as the set of rules that the pilots will use to make their flight decisions. TAC BRAWLER's current configuration supports engagement simulations of up to 20 total aircraft; up to 10 independent flights; and a maximum of 8 aircraft in any one flight.

Output: TAC BRAWLER output contains five separate files:

Limitations: Creating an input file takes considerable time if real actions are to be simulated. TAC BRAWLER does not simulate terrain.

To order TAC BRAWLER, please contact Ms. Susan Green, SURVIAC, at (513) 255-4840, DSN 785-4840. Technical questions should be forwarded to Ms. Linda Hamilton at (513) 429-9509 or (513) 255-4840.

The Association of Old Crows Conducts Its Second Electronic Warfare Conference

The Association of Old Crows (AOC) will conducts its second Integrated Avionics for Electronic Warfare (EW) conference on 6-7 December 1994 at the US Army Research Laboratory, Adelphi, MD. This forum will provide an outstanding opportunity for government and industry professionals to examine integrated avionics for maintaining and improving the US warfighting capability edge within the constraints of the defense budget down-sizing. Information Warfare, C4I for the Warrior, and the Navy's Digital Battlefield initiative all point to a technological transformation on the battlefield. This conference will examine the key examples of integrated avionics in supporting the modernization of the force structure enabling this transformation.

The sessions will examine such areas as state-of-the-art and maturing technology architectures, sensors, processing elements, information fusion approaches, and the innovative technologies, processes, and tools used to significantly reduce avionics acquisition and life cycle costs. The conference format will consist of presentation and paper sessions with panels to discuss and exchange views on affordable integrated avionics in support of today's ever-changing modern battlefield.

This follow-on to the highly successful first conference conducted in February Ô93 is an essential forum for those EW and avionics professionals, in both industry and government, to remain up-to-date on all facets of integrated avionics for EW. Presentations are planned at the Secret and US Only classification levels. For additional information, please contact the Association of Old Crows Convention Department at (703) 549-1600.
