The facts are
sobering: The Vietnam conflict cost the United States more
than 5,000 air vehicles. By sundown the second day of the Yom
Kippur War, the Israelis had lost 240 of their 264 tanks on
the Egyptian front to anti-tank weapons! Survivability means
the difference between a limited defense and full defensive
and offensive forces. In the face of new lethal threats and
defense budget cutbacks, protection against and reduction of
weapon system losses is of paramount importance. You in the
survivability and lethality community are challenged to find
leading edge technological solutions, apply state-of-the-art
methodologies, and gain insights from combat and test data.
The Survivability/Vulnerability Information Analysis Center
(SURVIAC) is here to help you do just that.
Created by the
DOD to meet a recognized need, SURVIAC is a dedicated
survivability information resource on all aspects of
nonnuclear survivability, lethality, and mission effectiveness
activities. SURVIAC maintains libraries, computer models,
methodologies, and databases and disseminates information and
models to U.S. Government organizations and their contractors.
SURVIAC's analysts provide in-depth analytic responses to
requests and carry out special studies and tasks. A key player
in the survivability and lethality communities, SURVIAC also
maintains a network of experts in government, industry, and
academia to answer technical questions and/or support special
studies.
